There are different ways people get ready for the Superbowl. Some people get ready for huge parties where they invite over everyone and their brother to watch the game. They collect recipes and do all kinds of crafty decorations to get pumped for the biggest fottball game of the year. Me? I read football romances. I was talking to some girlfriends the other day and we started to compare our favorites. There were so many I decided to write a Football Romance Roundup to get you in the mood for the Superbowl too. Not all of them are set during the season, but they are all going to melt the ice in your glass while you read them.
Beauty and the Blitz by Sosie Frost
OMG. I have always loved Beauty and the Beast. That story is the reason I love a dominate alpha male shifter! I mean Beast fights a pack of wolves to defend her – then gives her a library! This story is a moder day Beauty and the Beast with a twist. He is a brutal line backer who literally breaks a guy’s back druing a game. She is a single mother with a small child and no family or friends to support her barely scraping by. He wants to take care of her but doesn’t think he is capable, and she wants to teach him how to love. There are bumps – a doorbell gets ripped from the house, baby proofing that attacks during the night, and an evil Football Association President that has to be defeated. I literally laughed so hard I scared the dogs, and I cried scaring Hubby.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
She has been his assistant/ gopher for the last two years and is done. He is football’s greatest linebacker and won’t accept it So he tracks her down and brings her back to where he wants her. Sometimes guys just don’t know what they have until they loose it. I have to tell you this wasn’t just one of my favorites – it was in the top 2 for at least 6 of my friends.
Anaconda by Lauren Landish
Football Star, internet sensation for a huge reason that has nothing to do with football,a nd a budding movie star meets a woman working as a maid to pay for college. After one of the most embarrassing meet-cutes ever she runs from him. I am not always into a Cinderella story but this one definitely made me smile.
Chicago Stars Series by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
I read this series for the first time in 2013. It is an awesome one. There are seven novels that center around a pro football team in Chicago. I have to say my favorite is Match Me If You Can. It is the sixth book in the series and doesn’t even focus on a player. It is a romance between the quarterback’s agent (you meet him in book 5) and a woman who inherits a matchmaking business. I just love it when a quirky woman takes down a rich alpha man.
These novels are the ones that were recommended the most when I asked for suggestions on football romances. I haven’t read them yet but they have all landed in my to be read list!
If you have a football romance I need to read leave me a comment below so I can check it out!
